In Jaipur is the
beautiful pink city of Rajasthan. The series of palaces and three hill forts
are main tourist attractions in the city. The city is known as the pink city
because of the unique pink colored stones used in the construction of buildings
in the inner part of the city. The bazaars in Jaipur sell beautiful accessories
manufactured in typical Rajasthani style like beautiful embroidered shoes, tie
and dye scarves and other colorful stuffs.
Jaipur was built in
1727 AD by Sawai Jaisingh 2. It has been the capital city of the Rajput
dynasty. The capital city of Rajasthan is full of culture and traditions and
gives a very beautiful glimpse of the royal history of India. The magnificent
palaces where once the great maharajas of India lived give the taste of the
luxurious royal life of the emperors. The busy market places in Jaipur are
definitely the best place for the shoppers. The bazaars in Jaipur are famous
for Rajasthani jewellery, beautiful shoes and fabrics.
Jaipur has been built
in the conventional nine grid pattern. The astrologers in ancient India
believed this nine grid pattern to be very lucky. Each grid consists of a
square and these grids have been planned such that at the center of the city
lays the great city palace. Surrounding it are the public buildings and
residences. The high walls which were planned from defense point of view have
been penetrated with seven gateways through which one can enter into the city.
At present time, these walls may be difficult to be seen because the city has
grown far beyond its original planning. It
